Find out more about what we do

Our Story

Goodtime Foundation is the charitable arm of Goodtime Music Academy. Our Mission/Kaupapa is to make music lessons and mentoring accessible to as many disadvantaged children/tamariki and young people/rangatahi as possible.

What We Do

We do this through our free music scholarship programme where we provide a safe, fun, creative & musical learning environment with positive peers/role models for disadvantaged tamariki of all ethnicities who would otherwise not have access to them, e.g. low decile schools, high needs communities etc. We collect the students from their schools by bus and return them once the programme is completed.

Students

We currently work with  students from four Hutt Valley  Schools. Students are put forward by their Principals, who select those that they believe would most benefit from our programme and would otherwise not have this opportunity.

Music Mentors

Our Music Mentors come from different Secondary Schools around the Hutt Valley/Wellington Region. These rangatahi go through our Music Mentor training programme to strengthen their music teaching and leadership skills. They are also provided with the opportunity for free band lessons with Goodtime Music Academy.

While the programme is running we provide mentoring, music lessons and leadership development opportunities, at the same time instilling in our Students/Music Mentors our ten core values – Self-worth; Responsibility; Leadership; Attitude; Generosity; Compassion; Courage; Respect; Perseverance and Integrity.

We enable them to thrive & develop into individuals and leaders with bright futures, encouraging them to reach their full potential in this challenging world.

How You Can Help

If you would like help us in the work that we do then we would love to hear from you. Whether it’s providing a donation big or small, everything helps. It may be that you or your business wants to contribute to afternoon tea for the students, or buying pizza’s for the mentors each week while they have their development session, or even helping towards the cost of the bus. Every bit counts and we appreciate all your support.

Whether it’s over the phone by credit card, a one-off donation or recurring payment through internet banking, an eftpos donation onsite or even a cheque in the post, we can manage it all.

If you are a business owner and would like to be a part of what we do then please contact melissa@gtma.co.nz to learn more and receive our Supporters’ Pack.

We support volunteers and enable our Students and Music Mentors to help themselves, promote community well-being and address the disadvantaged, as well as promote participation, inclusion and identity in their families, schools and communities.
